Shop open. Park, drop your bag, warm up.
Sign in. Name, gender, email. First-timers sign the indemnity once.
Course briefing. Route, turn points, safety.
Gun. One mass start, hand-timed at the finish.
Results. Times read out at the shop, then posted online the same night.

How to join

1

Run the standard

Go under 18:00 (women) or 16:30 (men) at a Thursday time trial. A certified 5 km road race result from the past 12 months also counts.

2

Join the club

3

Get your licence

We apply for your Athletics Gauteng North licence through the club. Your licence number goes on every race bib.

Questions

Before you line up

I'm not under the standard yet. Can I still run on Thursdays?

Yes. The time trial is free and open to all runners, whatever your pace. Many members will qualify after a few weeks of Thursday efforts.

Do my parkrun or Strava times count?

Not for entry. Courses and GPS vary too much. Qualify at a Thursday time trial or with an official result from a certified 5 km road race in the past 12 months.

I already have a licence with another club.

You can only race for one club per year. Talk to us about moving to VanH Racing for the next licence year.

If I join in October, which licence do I get?

Licences run per calendar year. If you join late in the year, ask us whether to take a 2026 licence for the remaining races or register straight for 2027.

What should I bring?

Running kit, water, and something reflective or a light for the darker months. Please leave headphones out while on the road.

What if it rains?

We run. If there's lightning, we cancel and post it on our Instagram by 16:30.
