How it all started
Van H is a proudly South African artisan cycling and active wear house.
Van H was born when the founders, the van Hoven’s, got married and wrote "Van H" on their wedding invitations. The two fell deeply in love with the signature that marked their special day and decided to register it as a trademark.
From there, the idea and small acts of making cycling kits and t-shirts for friends and family was fostered and developed into a commercial brand that produces and sells Van H clothing. "We love coffee, steel bikes, creative challenges and living life to the fullest with our four kids."
Rynard van Hoven is a cycling fanatic who loves design. He is passionate about creating cycling wear that looks and feels amazing.
In 2018 Co-founder Retha van Hoven got involved in the brand and the pair finally embarked on the adventure of producing cycling and active wear themselves. By investing all of her time and effort, giving the brand a lot of TLC, she became the CMT manager and director. This allows the brand to keep a keen eye over the production of the garments and maintain their amazing quality. With Retha’s clothing marketing degree and Rynard’s creativity, the two make the perfect pair.
Behind the scenes
The entire production process from design to final product is done in-house at our design shop in Pretoria. Most of the fabrics are imported from Italy.
All the chamois we use are from Elastic Interface in Italy. We endlessly test, try, tweak and learn to stay ahead in the industry and to be able to constantly offer the best quality and creative products.
Our team
Micaela Neil is the graphic designer. Micaela is involved in all the designs along with design visionary, Rynard.
John and Mieliesent does the printing in the factory for sublimation and Retha does the pattern designs and development and is responsible for the general running of Van H. Nicolé works in pre-production and ensures the factory runs like a well oiled machine.

Linette Kleyn is our graphic designer. Linette is involved in all the designs along with our design visionary, Rynard. Linette does the printing in the factory for sublimation.
Retha does the pattern designs and development and is responsible for the general running of VanH.
